About me

Hi, I’m Bleaune.

I’m an oil pastel artist based in Portugal, working mostly with my hands, quite literally.

 I fingerpaint everything I make.

I graduated from art school and studied in France and Italy, but most of what drives my work doesn’t come from the classroom. It comes from how I feel. From music that hits too deep. From moments I don’t know how to explain except through art.

Oil pastels let me be close to what I’m feeling. I work with my hands, so everything is direct : the texture, the pressure, the mistakes. I don’t try to make things perfect. I just try to make them real.

What matters to me is what stays, the feeling you’re left with when you look at it.

The lifeline

This line, rooted in the pupil, is the irreducible trace, the mark left upon the world. I like to imagine that each of us carries a line, more or less thick, more or less strong, straight or curved, full or empty.
Starting from the gaze, it builds and grows as time passes and consumes us. Marked by the experiences of time, this trace strewn across the face records the unity we form. Each of us bears a line and nourishes it. Some try to hide it under various artifices, others proudly display it, but the result is that it is an inescapable scar.
